From the mind of Carr Center Artistic Director and 2021 NEA Jazz Master Terri Lyne Carrington comes the launch of our exciting new virtual concert series, “dUOS & dUETS”, pairing up industry giants in ways you have never seen them paired before There can be no better way to kick-off this series than a concert with Patrice Rushen and Billy Childs, two jazz piano icons performing together, next weekend Saturday, November 14th at 7:30 pm EST, presented in partnership with JUST JAZZ and Jazz Corner.com

A classically trained pianist, Rushen has spent a lifetime honing the skills that make her one of the music industry’s most versatile and sought after artists. Her early career made a transition from acoustic jazz to the top of the R&B charts, but she never completely left her jazz roots. Today she is considered one of the world’s top jazz pianists who has performed with and produced for such esteemed artists as Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Prince, Dianne Reeves, Lionel Hampton, Carlos Santana and on and on.

Jazz pianist/composer Billy Childs is one of the most diversely prolific and acclaimed artists working in music today. His canon of original compositions garnered him the 2013 Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship (2009), 16 Grammy nominations, and five Grammy awards, most recently for Best Jazz Instrumental Album ( Rebirth )
