“a way of escape: Reflections on Ritualism” reevaluates and subverts traditional methods and practices that are dedicated to concepts and themes of American ritualism through the lens of four black women photographers and documentarians from Detroit.
Curated by Laura D. Gibson, the four featured artists, Quinn Alexandria Hunter, Bree Gant, Morgan Bouldes and Ricky Weaver use performance and photography to reimagine ways of meditation, reclamation and healing, while decolonizing and resisting. Through their work they are creating new practices and pulling inspiration from across the African diaspora.
