The Carr Center in partnership with The Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) Summer Dance Intensive, is a world class dance program designed for dancers ages 8 – 21. The staff of DADA is composed of nationally and internationally recognized dance masters under the direction of Debbie Allen.

 This year the master classes were held under the tutelage of Rasta Thomas (Contemporary), Emily Liu (Ballet), Hassan Blandford (Graham), Chantel Heath (Hip Hop), Kris Nobles (Jazz), Chris Scott (Tap)

The Detroit Intensive was a full two-week program which ran 9am – 5pm, Monday – Saturday and now culminates with a public showcase presented in the Ford Theater inside The Detroit School of Arts on Saturday July 29th.

The performance will highlight all of the areas of study covered in this annual intensive, West African, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballet and Contemporary dance and features some of Detroit’s best new young dance talent all on the same stage.

The showcase will be held in the Ford Theater @ Detroit School of Arts, 123 Selden Street in Detroit’s midtown cultural district. You must use the building’s Cass Avenue entrance to access the theater.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door on the day of the concert.
