For over 10 years the Carr Center has hosted Dance Day in Detroit in partnership with the University of Michigan Dance Department Associate Professor Robin Wison, a founding member of the New York City Dance Company Urban Bush Women (seen above), and the Freshman Touring Company.

This year’s program will be hosted virtually and streamed live to schools throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area, originating from Detroit School of Arts on Thursday, April 15th.

The University of Michigan Freshman Touring Company will perform selections choreographed by Ms. Wilson in concert for invited dance students and dance programs throughout the metro Detroit area. The concert will be immediately followed by Masterclasses taught by Professor Wilson and her dance assistants, giving these middle school and high school student dancers a taste of college dance instruction and hopefully inspiring them to consider their passion for dance as a post-high school career development /higher education path.

If you would like more information or you have students who want to participate in Dance Day, please contact Gina Ellis, Carr Center education coordinator.
