‘Diasporadical Trilogia’ by Blitz the Ambassador is part 4 of our 5-part series “Citizen in Pictures” a visual interpretation of the award-winning volume “Citizen: An American Lyric,” by Claudia Rankine.

The rapper and filmmaker is currently being lauded for his stunning contributive work on the beautiful and poetic, just released, Beyonce film, “Black is King.’ In ‘Diasporadical Trilogia,’ explores the power of African spiritual practices in this three part film .

‘Diasporadical Trilogia’ is told through the gaze of a woman who evolves in three different stages and environments. Through a magical realism lens, she shares her memories of growing up as a little girl in Brooklyn, a young lady in Accra and a middle aged woman in Bahia, while struggling with love, immigration and gentrification. Blitz The Ambassador is a filmmaker and musician born in Ghana and based in New York. Blitz’s feature directorial debut ‘The Burial Of Kojo’ premiered at Urbanworld Film Festival where it won Best Narrative Feature (World Cinema). It also won the Grand Prize at the 2019 Luxor African Film Festival in Egypt. The film was hailed as “a spellbinding experience” and “a striking feature filmmaking debut” by The Los Angeles Times and The Hollywood Reporter respectively.
