the Carr Center Presents… kicks off our 18th annual MSU Jazz in Detroit series with The MSU Jazz Orchestra in concert with Kenny Washington, one of the premiere drummers of our time. For the better part of the last twenty years, Kenny has perhaps been best known as the ultimate New York City trio drummer. He has appeared in the trios of Kenny Barron, Bill Charlap, Benny Green, and Richard Wyands. Over the years he has also been associated with Betty Carter, Sonny Stitt, Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, Phil Woods and many others. Wash, is also a renowned Jazz Historian who currently teaches jazz drums at the Juilliard School of Music
