The Gathering Orchestra, our Geri Allen Fellows, under the direction of Professor Rodney Whitaker, participated in a once in a lifetime cultural exchange during their recent Detroit Residency, with Uralskiy Dixieland Ensemble from Cleyabinsk, Russia.
Originally planned as a Live performance in Russia and delayed by the pandemic this cultural exchange was three years in the making, It will end with a fantastic one hour concert with both ensembles performing separately and together at an International Jazz Festival in Chelyabinsk, Russia on June 19th, 2021. This same concert will also livestream on the Carr Center LIVE YouTube, Carr Center Facebook LIVE and Jazz Corner Facebook Live channels.
