Krisilyn “Tony” Frazier
Krisilyn “Tony” Frazier received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Fine Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University.
Tony continues to perform and choreography in a variety of dance styles. Among her favorites are Modern, Jazz, Dunham, Hip-Hop and Afro Haitian.
She enjoys spreading her love of Hip-Hop and its history as a lecturer at the University of Michigan and as a guest lecturer at Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, and Washtenaw Community College.
Tony is the Founder and Artistic Director of Haus of Dance, a company for pre-professional and professional dancers based in Leslie, Michigan. Her pre-professional program has merged with her non-profit studio, Dance Illumination, for at-risk youth. Through the company and studio, she inspires and trains aspiring dance artists.
In 2018 Tony released her first dance documentary called “A Call To Action: The Holocaust.” This film has been viewed at multiple film festivals, including CARE Awards for emerging artists, Short Film Block Party, Idlewild International Film Festival where it won Most Unique Film and Emerging Artist, and Detroit Shetown Film Festival where it won Best Michigan Film and was nominated for Best Director and Best Cinematography. As a documentarian, she will continue to merge the art of dance and film to focus on bringing awareness to social justice and inequality.
Tony’s documentary work “Justice in Motion” was featured in the Film @ The Carr, “RESISTANCE & Resilience” film series.
