Terri Lyne Carrington is fresh off of her recent triple win in DownBeat magazines 2020 Critics Poll For Jazz Artist of the Year, Jazz Album of the Year and Jazz Group of the Year for her visionary masterpiece Waiting Game, which artistically absorbs the Black Lives Matter movement … addressing racism, homophobia, prison conditions, gender issues and more.

This concert is one of the first that she has performed since the onset of Covid-19 and we are thrilled to include it in our summer season. This concert will feature, Grammy Award winning and Smithsonian Legacy Artist, jazz pianist Danilo Pérez, as her special guest.

Selections will include  Beloved (for Toni Morrison) written by Danilo and heard on the new Kurt Elling cd featuring Danilo, an Angela Davis piece, Alternate Reality, also written by Danilo and a debut piece for Charlie Parker, by Terri Lyne Carrington, titled Elk Dream.
