The Gathering Orchestra, our newest cohort of Geri Allen Fellows, is back in Detroit for a week-long residence filled with rehearsals, lectures, and individualized coaching sessions. The residency culminates in 2 public performances this weekend!

FRIDAY, June 23rd, 12:30 to 1:15 PM: It’s a jazzy lunchtime matinee at St. Patrick’s Senior Center Auditorium, located at 58 Parsons St in Midtown Detroit.
Note: Street parking is available. There is also a paid parking lot across the street from the center.

SATURDAY, June 24th, 6:00 to 7:00 PM: The Gathering will be a featured ensemble at the East Lansing Summer Solstice Jazz Festival. They will be performing on the Al & Beth Cafagna Founders’ Stage (Albert St. near Grove St.)

Under the musical direction of Detroit’s own Rodney Whitaker, along with accomplished musicians Walter Blanding, Timothy Blackmon and Vincent Chandler as mentors, the newest cohort members of The Gathering Orchestra are:
